Mark Overland

Mark Overland joined Cargill in 1994 managing dietary requirements, harmonizing competing
standards and ensuring compliance. In 2006 Mr. Overland moved to Cargill Food Safety, Quality &
Regulatory Affairs where he is responsible for strategy, policy and implementation for Food Safety
Management Systems. His was also responsible for certification in food safety and dietary areas
covering approximately 1200 Cargill plants and contract manufacturers in 67 countries.
Mr. Overland serves in Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) as vice chair of the Auditor Competency
Sub Committee. He is a also a member of the ISO/CASCO Joint Working Group 36, drafting
requirements for the certification body’s providing audit and certification of Food Safety Management
Systems, is a member of the Food Safety System Certification 22000 (FSSC 22000) Board of
Stakeholders. He is also actively engaged in industry, government and NGO global efforts to drive
transparency in food safety, harmonization of standards and affect positive public health outcomes.
